Put Small to Speed

Intel launched world's smallest processors: Atom.
x86 processors, designed on new microarchitecture for low-power MIDs (mobile internet devices), code-named Silverthorne and Diamondville, use 10 times less power than Intel's Celeron M chip, will run on Linux. Chips will be launched in second quarter, 2008.

Built on Intel's 45nm process, they have thermal design power (TDP) specification in 0.6-2.5 watt range, compared with Core 2 Duo's output of 35 watts.
Smallest Atom processor built with world's smallest transistors includes a low-power companion chip with integrated graphics and wireless radio.

Moorestone, its successor, spoken, being 10 times more power efficient than Atom processor, will be released in 2010.
